A Vampire's Story

_________

Chapter One
_________

Blood aroused his senses.

He thirsted for it. Longed for its taste and its sweet, coppery tang. The flow of it past his lips, as it drizzled down his neck. It was what kept him alive. What kept him breathing.

He perched atop a branch of a tree, positioned to strike as he waited for his prey. The scent was pungent, strong--arousing his senses even more as the wind blew to his direction and a shiver ran up to his spine. It was dearly driving him to the brink of insanity.

"Such delicious scent," he muttered to himself as his scarlet eyes flashed wide and his tongue traced his lips while feeling the sharpness of his fangs.

He stood up from where he sat, his bare toes curling on the bark of his footing as he leaned forward, watching his prey pick its pace as it looked around the darkness of the empty alleyway.

He crouched down slightly and lunged forward, smoothly landing right in front of his beloved food. He smirked, his sharp fangs dangerously flaring as he watched his victim squirm and stagger back, its voice lost in fear.

He bared his teeth and his victim shuddered. It knew it was nearing its end.

He was famished. He sprang forward, trapping it with his limbs as he took in its scent. Indeed, human blood would equal more than ambrosia, the food of the gods.

His fangs sank in--right on the crook of his victim's neck and it screamed in agony, its life bordering to its predicted death. Blood spurted out and it dirtied his clothes which were already smudged with unknown filth. He sank his teeth deeper, puncturing the soft skin and lavishing his tongue around the wound.

Blood drove him in ecstasy, one which only vampires would know and get to understand.

His victim lay limp on his arms, drained and spent. He had indulged himself too much. Its body thumped quietly against the asphalt as he dropped it uselessly, pools of blood splattered everywhere.

Breathing in the fresh, cold air, a smile played on the corners of his lips. He was satisfied.
